What did you learn from the Change Healthcare Breach?
Recently, Change Healthcare experienced a significant cyberattack, which severely impacted their systems and services. The initial attack, carried out by the ALPHV ransomware group, led to substantial disruptions, affecting pharmacies, hospitals, and healthcare providers nationwide. The attackers demanded a ransom, reportedly paid by Change Healthcare, amounting to $22 million (HealthITSecurity) (American Hospital Association).
Shortly after, a second ransomware attack by a group named RansomHub emerged, claiming to have stolen 4TB of sensitive data, including personal and medical information. This group threatened to release the data unless another ransom was paid (ITPro). The attacks have prompted federal investigations and guidance to help affected healthcare providers resume normal operations and ensure system security (American Hospital Association).
